What is United States Connect?

 
United States Connect is a one-stop-shop for Australian & New Zealand exporters wanting to access the information, advice and contacts they need to succeed in the United States. 
 
Following on the success of Access USA, which was established in 2011 to provide targeted assistance to Australian companies looking to export to the States, an opportunity was identified by its founders to bring their extensive real world US experience online. Working closely with fellow US specialists Ian Wing and Geoff Gray, the team developed an online platform to provide advice and assistance across all industry segments, and United States Connect was born. 
 
The strength of the concept is that all of the information you need to export to the US is in the one place, and all of our Service Providers are “peer rated” by the USConnect community. This means that other users know exactly what to expect when dealing with them which reduces the effort, expense and risk of finding the right partner for your US market entry.

Randall Tosh, Founder

Randall Tosh has more than twenty-five years of experience in international business and marketing of consumer products in the United States. Randy helped found Access USA and prior to this was Senior Director, US Market Development, for the Australian Trade Commission based out of Kansas City. In this role he was responsible for promoting and facilitating Australian exports and two-way investment throughout the US. Prior to joining Austrade he worked for QVC, the world’s largest television shopping network and was responsible for the famous ’50 States in 50 Weeks’ promotion that was one of the most successful in the history of the company.

 

Geoff Gray, Strategic Adviser

Geoff has forty years of experience as an Australian Trade Commissioner and diplomat, serving in many parts of the world including five assignments in the USA. Geoff returned to Sydney in 2007 after spending five years in Washington DC, following three years in New York and previous to that, three years in Atlanta. After completing service with the Australian Government, Geoff was appointed as the first Executive Director of the American Australian Association. In his role, Geoff helped with the establishment and funding of the United States Study Centre at Sydney University, organized three benefit dinners for key Australian business figures and promoted closer relations between Australia and the USA. Geoff grew up in Melbourne, graduated from Melbourne University, studied at Georgia State College in Atlanta and worked for BHP in Melbourne and Wollongong.

 

Ian Wing, Strategic Adviser

Ian Wing is an international business consultant now residing in Old Chatham, New York. He also has a home in Adelaide where he spends part of the year. He retired from the Australian Trade Commission in 2011 after a 32 year career which included nearly 10 years as a member of the Austrade executive, located offshore in the roles of Acting Executive General Manager, Middle East/Indian Ocean, Dubai, Regional Director Americas, Los Angeles and Regional Director, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Frankfurt. Prior postings as Senior Trade Commissioner included Washington, Tokyo, Moscow and Atlanta. While Regional Director, Americas Mr Wing had responsibility for securing commercial opportunities arising from the conclusion of the Australia USA Free Trade Agreement. This involved a major expansion of the Austrade USA network and a significant shift in operational strategy across many industry sectors. Mr Wing has an honours degree in Economics from the University of Adelaide and a Diploma of Japanese Studies from the Osaka University of Foreign Studies. He was also research fellow in Agricultural Economics at Kobe University, Japan. He speaks Russian, Japanese, French and conversational German.
